Artwood Ireland, Suncatchers & Lumbajax
Giolla, one of 4 children, was born in the West of Ireland from a line of carpenters and craftsmen. Since a young boy, he had observed his father working and began to work and enjoy the natural beauty of wood for himself.
It has remained a family business and Giolla and his wife Emily and their three young children are carrying on the family tradition of “first class craftsmanship”. A creative enterprise, Artwood Ireland, has an expanding range of natural and handcrafted home and gift ideas. Each piece is handcrafted in their workshop under the Sliabh an Iarainn mountain in County Leitrim.
Wood and sunlight seem to go naturally together. For Giolla Liddy it means using the woodworking skills he learned as a child to create a range of beautiful moon suncatchers, iris suncatchers and ring suncatchers which throw dazzling rainbow light all around. Set in the window to catch the light, the suncatchers, made in a range of woods and Asfour crystal shapes, create a spectrum of coloured light on the dullest of days – just beautiful and they make wonderful gifts which can also be personalised.
The Lumbajax are an original design which has been in the family for over 60 years. These children toys are handcrafted from locally grown & milled Beech wood using plant-derived, eco-friendly dyes on the blocks. These are quality, fun, natural toys for children and adults alike producing a life-time of imaginative, creative and diverse play.
Artwood works with locally sourced woods and high quality finishing products, non-toxic finishes and environmentally friendly packaging. Partners with Treepex, for every product bought online from Artwood, one tree is planted in your name and you can be sent a picture of your tree with GPS coordinates.
